About Us

The Friends of Shepherdstown Library (FOSL) was established in 1995 as a 501c(3) non-profit organization. The mission of Friends of Shepherdstown Library (FOSL) is to work together with the Shepherdstown Public Library to strengthen and expand library services by raising funds for programs, developing community awareness and participation, and organizing volunteer activities.

The historic Shepherdstown Market House on German Street, which served as the Public Library for many years, is now closed.  The new Shepherdstown Public Library located at 145 Higbee Lane officially opened July 22, 2022.
